| Background Information | CARJ, the Catholic Association for Racial Justice, works for an inclusive Catholic church, and for racial justice in wider society.
CARJ emerged in response to widespread social unrest and rioting in the early 1980s, when the Catholic Church in England and Wales established a Catholic Commission for Racial Justice. The Commission reported the need for a body dedicated towards ethnic minority inclusion in the Church.
