Description

The Bishopsgare Institute holds some information in a file called "Animal Liberation Ephemera Collection" (GB 0372 ANIMAL LIBERATION) on handbills, leaflets, posters and publications concerning anti-vivisection, factory farming, bloodsports and general animal rights campaigns produced by the SSCS from 1982 - 1996. It also holds similar information for other organisations in the same file (Animal Liberation Front, Hunt Saboteurs Association, Manchester Meat-Free Zone Campaign, Compassion in World Farming, the National Anti-Vivisection Society, Manchester Animal Protection Group, Chicken's Lib, Vale and Valleys Hunt Saboteurs, the Vegan Action Group, League Against Cruel Sports, Earth Rights, CAMPRAS (Campaign to Promote Respect for Animals in Schools), Animal Aid and the Bradford Animal Rights Group) (source: Aim)

Open. However, documents cannot be photocopied at present. Digital photography (without flash) is permitted for research purposes on completion of the Library's Copyright Declaration form and with respect to current UK copyright law.

Additional information

Bishopsgate Library will close at 2pm on Friday 19 June 2009 until Spring 2010 for a building refurbishment project. During the closure the Library aims to provide access by appointment to the majority of the special collections between 10.00am - 5.00pm on Mondays and Thursdays, and 2.30-5.00pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There will be no appointments available on Fridays and one week's notice will be required to retrieve items.
