The Ulster Independence Movement (UIM) was a Northern Irish political party, active in contesting elections in the 1990s. Somewhat sidelined by the rise of the Ulster Democratic Party (UDP) and the Progressive Unionist Party (PUP), it campaigned for a 'No' vote in the 1998 referendum on the Good Friday Agreement, and disbanded itself as a party two years later, albeit maintaining a presence as a pressure group. Itself formed in 1994, the Movement grew out of the Ulster Independence Committee (UIC), which had been in existence since 1988. Source: www.cain.ulster.ac.uk
