| Background Information | In its own words, the "Child Accident Prevention Trust (capt) is a national charity committed to reducing the number of children and young people who are killed, disabled or seriously injured as a result of accidents". The Trust, which engages in lobbying, education and publicity work, was established in the late 1970s by paediatricians Hugh Jackson and Donald Court, becoming the present organisation in 1981. It is the sucessor body to the Joint Child Accident Prevention Committee, established in 1978.
