| Background Information | GMFA is a sexual health charity for gay men. Founded by a group of gay men concerned at the lack of HIV prevention work targeted specifically at their group, GMFA focuses on community mobilisation and peer education, ensuring the gay male community plays a leading role in directing the charity's work. Established in 1992, the current organization came about through the 2001 merger with Big Up, a group aimed at Black gay men. The following year, the organization was renamed, and its remit broadened from targeting HIV specifically, to addressing all aspects of gay men's sexual health. Charity no. 1076854, company no. 2702133. Source: www.gmfa.org.uk |
