| Background Information | Global Action Plan UK is an environmental charity, describing itself as "a different kind of environmental organisation, focusing on people and how they can take practical action in their everyday lives for a better world." Programmes specifically target manageable, measurable change within homes, schools, businesses and the community. Internationally, the organisation was launched in 1992, following the Rio Earth Summit, with David Gershon setting up branches in the Netherlands and the USA. The UK branch followed a year later.
