| Background Information | Education Action International is an education charity (no. 1003323) working to assist communities affected by conflict. Emerging out of the World Student Christian Federation, firstly as European Student Relief, and then as the International Student Service, it sought to assist students and academics caught up in the two World Wars. Post-war, and renamed the World University Service, the organisation focussed more on education in the developing world, and is now active in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
In 1985, it established the Refugee Education & Training Advisory Service (RETAS) to assist refugees studying in the UK.
