| Background Information | The Church Reform League was established on the principle that "Church reform should be carried out by the Church herself, through her own assemblies." A 1929 merger with the Incorporated Free and Open Church Association led to the body being renamed the Church Self-Government League; a further merger with the Westminster Group in 1937 led to the organisation being known as the Westminster Group and Church Reform League; the original name was reverted to in 1947. The League also incorporated the League of Loyalty and Order, via the Westminster Group. The organisation was still active in the 1950s. Source: NRA List 24408 |
