CACHE

CACHE, the working name of the Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education, is an educational charity, seeking to raise standards of childcare and education through the design and delivery of training courses, alongside a complementary programme of lobbying. The current organisation was formed through the 1994 merger of the National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB) (established 1945), with the Council for Early Years Awards. In 2001, CACHE incorporated the National Association for Maternal and Child Welfare (NAMCW). This latter body had its roots in the Infant Welfare Movement, specifically coming about through the 1938 merger of the Association of Infant, Welfare and Maternity Centres, with the National Association for the Prevention of Infant Mortality, to form the National Association of Maternity and Child Welfare Centres and for the Prevention of Infant Mortality.
