The Roads Beautifying Association was an environmental body established by Dr Wilfred Fox, on the invitation of Wilfred Ashley, Minister of Transport, to advise local authorities (and later on, the Ministry), on roadside planting. The organisation was supported by the AA, and the Royal Horticultural Society, among other bodies. Source: NRA Handlist 24475
