| Background Information | The St Joan's International Alliance was a Catholic organisation concerned with a wide range of issues regarding female sexual and social equality. Originally the Catholic Women's Suffrage Society, founded by Gabrielle Jeffery and May Kendal, the organisation evolved to consider women's social concerns more generally, with an increasing concern for international issues, as reflected by the various name-changes.
