| Background Information | Providing non-partisan co-ordination and support to voluntary organisations dealing with women and the family, and operating at both a local and a national level, the Standing Conference of Women's Organisations was originally established by the Federation of Soroptimist Clubs, and worked closely with the Women's Group on Public Welfare (WGPW) (later the Women's Forum), as well as receiving practical support from the National Council of Social Service (now the NCVO).
