The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland is the largest of the Loyal Orders, with a membership of circa. 100,000, and famous for its parades and marches. A major part of the socio-political landscape of Northern Ireland, the Lodge played a leading role in the 1905 formation of the Ulster Union Council, the forerunner of the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP). The Lodge also has branches in Scotland and England and, internationally, in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Togo and Ghana.
