| Background Information | The British Vigilance Association was a pressure group seeking to combat the causes and existence of prostitution, both in the UK and worldwide. The Association was formed through the merger of the National Vigilance Association and the International Bureau for Suppression of Traffic in Persons, the latter body having been founded by the former in 1900. The organisation closed on the retirement of its general secretary, Richard F Russell. Source: www.aim25.ac.uk |
