| Background Information | The Brooke Animal Hospital is an animal protection charity (no. 1085760) dedicated to the relief of the suffering of horses, donkeys and mules.
The charity was established by Dorothy Brooke, who had been horrified by the treatment of ex-cavalry horses she had observed in Cairo. She set up, in 1934, the Old War Horses Memorial Hospital, with funds that had been generated though a letter to the Morning Post. The charity now also operates in Jordan, India and Pakistan and, through partnership projects, in Afghanistan, Kenya and Guatemala.
