| Background Information | The British Soviet Friendship Society was a pro-Soviet group active during the Cold War, seeking improved relations between Britain and the USSR. As such, it was a successor body to such groups as the Anglo-Soviet Friendship Committee (est. 1940), the Russia Today Society (est. 1934), and the Friends of the Soviet Union (est.1930).
