"The Church Pastoral Aid Society exists to inspire and enable churches to reach everyone in their communities with the good news of Jesus Christ." Particular areas of concentration are evangelism, and a range of youth programmes, including CYFA, CPAS's youth wing, established in 1975. CPAS also undertakes Church consultancy work. The Society was originally formed by Christians including social reformer Lord Shaftesbury, in order to provide a Christian response to the dislocating social change caused by the Industrial Revolution.
