In its own words, the Church Society "exists to keep the Church of England as a Reformed national Church", alongside being "strongly committed to the supreme and final authority of the Bible as God's Word written." The current organisation was formed through the merger of the Church Association (est.1865) and the National Church League (est. 1906).
