| Background Information | In its own words CAFAS, the Council for Academic Freedom and Academic Standards, is "dedicated to maintaining standards of integrity and practice in academia, to exposing breaches in those standards and to supporting the victims of those breaches." In pursuit of these goals, CAFAS investigates and publicises malpractice, provides moral and practical support to those suffering victimisation, and campaigns against what it sees as declining academic standards. The organisation was originally established as the Council for Academic Freedom and Democracy (CAFD), by John Griffiths and Ralph Miliband. Sources: www.cafas.org.uk; www.hull.ac.uk |
