| Background Information | "The Council for Education in World Citizenship was founded in 1939 as an independent organisation dedicated to education for international understanding, for young people of all ages. Its mission is to develop and promote active citizenship involving students, teachers and other citizens in taking responsibility for our future." Funding difficulties meant that the Council was inactive for much of the 1990s, but it has since been reactivated, continuing its work in schools, including the Model UN General Assemblies project.
