| Background Information | The Electrical Association for Women (EAW) was established by Mrs Matthews and Dame Caroline Haslett of the Women's Engineering Society (WES), in order to facilitate women's interest in the domestic consumption of electricity. The Association spread rapidly, acting as a liaison between industry and consumers, both educating and representing the interests of domestic users, with particular reference to lightening the load of domestic labour.
