| Background Information | The Southern Africa Economic Research Unit (SAERU) was a post-apartheid economic think-tank, and the successor body to End Loans to Southern Africa (ELTSA). ELTSA had been formed in 1974 by Reverend David Haslam, and campaigned against British economic support for the apartheid regime, beginning with loans made by Midland Bank.
