| Background Information | The European League for Economic Cooperation (ELEC) was a pro-integration organisation, serving as both a platform for employers and trade-unionists, and as a point of cross-party contact on European matters. ELEC enjoyed a revival during the 1970s, but is now a dormant body in the UK. However, the Brussels-based international body, to which the UK branch was affiliated, is still active.
