| Background Information | Raleigh International is a youth charity (no. 1047653), encouraging personal development through a combination of adventure and community service. It emerged out of Operation Drake, a project established by the Prince of Wales and John Blashford-Snell in 1978, and based around Francis Drake's circumnavigation of the globe. Operation Raleigh followed, and then became a permanent organisation, concentrating on land-based expeditions. Raleigh International now operates projects both within the United Kingdom and overseas.
