| Background Information | The Campaign Against Racial Discrimination (CARD) was a relatively short-lived co-ordinating body for organisations drawn from Britain's growing Black and Asian communities (as well as incorporating individual membership), formed at a time when New Commonwealth immigration into Britain was an increasingly significant political issue. The founders of CARD included David Pitt and Anthony Lester. Sources: www.cre.gov.uk; Curtis & Sanderson Unsung Sixties 2004 |
