| Background Information | The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) is the national umbrella body for Muslim organisations. It seeks to promote the interests of the Muslim community, develop cooperation and consensus between Muslim organisations, and improve the relationship between Muslims and wider society. The MCB emerged out of the National Interim Committee on Muslim Affairs, which was established in 1994 to investigate the possibilities for increasing unity amongst Muslim groups.
