| Background Information | The Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women (AJEX) exists for three purposes: to commemorate fallen comrades though the annual Cenotaph wreath-laying; to combat Fascism and neo-Nazism; and to support the existence of the State of Israel. The Association was established by Louis Sarna, founder of the League of Old Judeans, following a meeting of Jewish ex-servicemen protesting against anti-Jewish riots in Palestine. In the years before the Second World War, it also cooperated closely with the Board of Deputies of British Jews, in combating the British Union of Fascists. Source: www.ajex.org.uk |
