| Background Information | "The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation charity was set up by Leonard Cheshire and his wife Sue Ryder at the time of their marriage in 1959. Its aim was to take on projects which did not quite fall within the remit of either of their larger Foundations ... particularly the rehabilitation of disabled people and the prevention and treatment of TB. At the beginning of the 21st century, the organisation has decided to concentrate its efforts on two major areas of work: the Ryder-Cheshire Volunteers disability support project in the UK and Target Tuberculosis which aims to target the causes and effects of tuberculosis overseas."
