| Background Information | Rethink, the working name of the National Schizophrenia Fellowship, is a major charity supporting and campaigning on behalf of those with severe mental illness. Support services and housing projects run alongside efforts to combat the stigma of mental illness. Rethink was founded by journalist John Pringle, following an article he wrote for the Times newspaper about the experience of living with schizophrenia. Emerging from a meeting following the 1970 article, the organisation was then formally established two years later. The current working name was adopted in 2002.
