| Background Information | The Campaign for a European Political Community was a short-lived pro-European pressure group, which worked closely with Britain in Europe (BiE), against the backdrop of efforts to join the European Economic Community in the late 1960s. Leading figures were Lord Gladwyn, one-time chair of BiE, and Roy Hattersley, future deputy leader of the Labour party. The Campaign was formed by BiE and Federal Union.
