| Background Information | Originally established as the Scottish branch of what is now the Britain Russia Centre and the British East West Centre (BEWC), the politically-impartial (albeit government-funded) Britain-Russia Centre, Scotland, sought to engender friendship and understanding between Britain and the erstwhile USSR.
