| Background Information | In its own words, "Healing Through Remembering is an extensive cross-community project made up of a range of individual members holding different political perspectives", seeking "to focus on the issue of how to deal with the past relating to the conflict in and about Northern Ireland." The project has its roots in the 1999 visit to Northern Ireland of Dr Boraine, Deputy Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee (TRC) in South Africa, organised by Victim Support Northern Ireland (VSNI) and the Northern Ireland Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (NIACRO). Following the visit, a committee was formed with representatives of the Community Relations Council (CRC), leading to the 2000 All Truth is Bitter report. The following year saw the establishment of the Healing Through Remembering Project Board, with a further report coming in 2002, and the organisation being formally registered in 2003.
