Commat (the Commonwealth Medical Trust) is an independent organisation, which exists for the promotion of health, the prevention of disease and disability and the advancement of human rights and medical ethics, particularly for the poor, vulnerable and marginalised groups in developing countries. It is concerned particularly with the role that should be played by health professionals and their associations in carrying out its programme, especially in Commonwealth countries. Charity number: 1054835; ECOSOC Special Consultative Status since 1993. Charity registered in the UK in 1996.
