Forests Monitor was established in July 1993 and is a non-profit making, non-governmental organisation incorporated as a private limited company in January 1995. Forests Monitors aims are to promote the conservation of forests, to advance the education of the public in environmental matters, and to carry out or promote research, for the public benefit, into all aspects relating to the effects of deforestation and environmental degradation on the natural environment, forest dependent people(s) and world ecology and to publish the useful results of such research. Forests Monitor is in Roster Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Charity no. 1097779.
