| Background Information | SafeHands for Mothers (a.k.a. SafeHands) is an international development charity (no. 1097928) responding to the fact that annually 5-600,000 women die in pregnancy and childbirth, with 99% of deaths taking place in the developing world, and to meet the international target of a 75% reduction in this figure by 2015. Founded by Nancy Durrell McKenna, the charity seeks to improve the skills of health professionals working with mothers and pregnant women, through the distribution of training materials.
