The Park, Findhorn. IV36 3TZ

Founded by Eileen Caddy, Peter Caddy and Dorothy Maclean in 1962 in a caravan park near Findhorn, Morayshire, the Findhorn Community was a religious community which studied the kingdoms of nature and developed gardens. In 1970 an American called David Spangler joined the community and helped to devise an educational curriculum. The Findhorn Foundation was formally established in 1972 as a Scottish charity and by the 1980's there were around 300 members of the community and the ecovillage was formed.

The Findhorn Foundation is now a spiritual community, ecovillage and an international centre for holistic education. It aims to work towards "a new human consciousness and create a positive and sustainable future" by promoting a unified and co-creative approach to nature and an intuitive and transformational approach to education. It practises, teachs and demonstrates the links between the environmental, economic, social and spiritual aspects of life.

Since August 1998 Frances Edwards and John Clausen have represented the Findhorn Foundation at the UN in New York, as well as numerous other meetings such as the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CONGO) Sustainable Development Committee to provide a contemporary and evolving model of sustainable living (source: http://www.findhorn.org/index.php?tz=-60;  http://www.scan.org.uk/catalogue/)
