| Background Information | The Campaign Against Depleted Uranium (CADU) is a founder member of the International Coalition to Ban Uranium Weapons (ICBUW), which comprises over 102 member organisations in 27 countries. CADU seeks a global ban on the manufacture, testing, and use of depleted uranium (DU) weapons. They also aim to put pressure on governments to take responsibility for environmental decontamination in areas where DU has been used, and demand recognition from the Ministry of Defence that DU weapons are connected with serious illnesses. The use of DU has been condemned by four resolutions in the European Parliament, is banned completely in Belgium, and is now on the United Nations General Assembly agenda due to CADU and ICBUW campaigning (source: info@cadu.org.uk)
