WAFE works to "eliminate religious fundamentalism in all faiths" and "promote the advancement of women into decision-making positions and the achievement of gender equality" (WAFE) because it argues that women living under regimes that practise religion in a fundamentalist way, are more likely to suffer maltreatment.
