Background Information

FAB was a campaign organised by the National Abortion Campaign, Abortion Law Reform Association and the Women's Reproductive Rights Campaign in response to Liberal MP David Alton's attempt to gain parliamentary approval for a Private Member's Bill reducing the 28-week limit on abortion to 18 weeks. At its height, FAB had over 150 local branches or groups throughout Britain, and was able to mount a national demonstration to coincide the Commons second reading of the bill (which subsequently fell).
