The British Ecological Society main goal is to advance ecology, through a variety of activities which "include the publication of a range of scientific literature, including four internationally renowned journals, the organisation and sponsorship of a wide variety of meetings, the funding of numerous grant schemes, and education work". It also conducts policy work which aim to influence policy and practice.
