"AbilityNet is a national charity helping disabled adults and children use computers and the internet by adapting and adjusting their technology." The organisation was formed through the 1998 merger of the Computability Centre and The Foundation for Communication for the Disabled. The former body had its roots in the work undertaken by computer company IBM to help disabled people adapt their computers, and was established as an independent body by IBM in 1992.
