| Description | "The Indian Workers Association archive [MS 2141] consists of papers of both the national and the Birmingham branch of this organisation dating from about 1961 onwards. (...) The archive comprises correspondence, news cuttings, minutes and financial papers, reports and pamphlets, circulars and statements and material relating to several campaigns, including flyers. The archive also contains papers [MS 2142] of Avtar Jouhl [General Secretary of Indian Workers Association], including transcripts of oral history interviews undertaken with him, which provide information about his involvement in both the Indian Workers Association and the trade union movement". The collection also includes papers of the Shaheed Udham Singh Welfare Centre, set up by the Indian Workers Association, and organisational and campaign papers of other groups connected with the Association, including the Co-ordinating Committee Against Racial Discrimination; the Association of Indian Communists; CARF (Campaign Against Racism and Fascism) and CARL (Campaign Against Racist Laws).
