| Description | The records of the Association are housed in the Archive Department at its headquarters at Gilwell Park. "Retained papers include a large collection of correspondence and other documents relating to the Founder, most of which has been microfilmed; committee minute books from 1908 (some of whose contents are, however, confidential and not open to inspection); copies of the annual report and of published special reports, including the Post War Commission papers of 1944 and the Chief Scout's Advance Party Report of 1966; financial records and ledgers not yet in the care of the Archives Department; and correspondence files ordinarily organised by subject but including several distinct collections, such as the papers of the late Deputy Chief Scout Percy Everett. The Archives Department also maintains a reference library, photographic collection, and a considerable quantity of memorabilia." (source: Cook & Waller 1994 and Cook 2006)

Over 40 online catalogues of these records can be found from the A2A website (advanced search with "Scout" as founder of archive).
The papers of the founder of the Scouts movement (Robert Baden Powell) also contain material related to the association. A list of the repositories where his papers can be found is provided on the NRA website.
There are also numerous minor references to the Scout Association in A2A and AIM25. |
