| Description | The papers of the Conservation Society have been deposited at Sheffield Archives. They consist of two different collections:
Accession 1993/108 is made up of the conservation Society, records themselves (part of the personal papers of Len Taitz of Sheffield who was Chairman of the Society), but is not currently listed.
Accession 1999/63 consist of the Conservation Society, papers and publications. They include newsletters 1970-1986 (incomplete set); annual reports 1971-1976; other papers 1966-1990; Statement of Aims nd [but 1960s] and Manifesto c 1973.
There are also a few personal papers of Len Taitz relating to his activities with the Conservation Society Limited, Transport 2000 and Energy 2000 in the same repository (c 1970-c 1979, ref. 1994/95).

| Additional information | There are few records relating to the Conservation Society in the papers of Peter Markham Scott (ref. NCUACS 87.8.99/G.39 - date: 1971-1972). An online catalogue is available.
The papers of the Kingston Conservation Society have been placed at the East Sussex Record Office where they form part of Kingston Parish Council (ref. P 408/12/1, 1973-1975, Including draft constitution, minutes of meetings and list of members) (source: online catalogue).
According to the Accession 1999/63 online presentation: "The Conservation Society was wound up in 1987, and its records passed to the Conservation Trust, which was itself wound up in 1992, the records of both (?) being passed to the Environment Council. The Conservation Society's collection of printed material was then passed to Silsoe College, Bedfordshire, and is in their library". Silsoe College told DANGO in January 2007 that the collection has unfortunately now been disposed of. Silsoe College have retained some items relevant to their teaching. Other items were offered to local libraries and the Oxfam bookshop. They still have a book catalogue of the collection:
Guide to resources in environmental education / edited by Peter S. Berry and Catherine Lydford. 1991. (For information,the site at Silsoe College is now closing in Dec 2007, and activities are going to the main campus at Cranfield University, Cranfield.)
