| Background Information | Concern Worldwide (UK) is an international development and humanitarian relief charity (no. 1092236) and the UK arm of Ireland-based charity Concern. Established in Ireland as Africa Concern, in response to the Biafran famine, the organisation was re-named Concern in the early 1970s as its relief projects diversified. Concern works predominantly in Africa and Asia, on projects addressing community-based sustainable development, heath and HIV/AIDS, education, and disaster relief. Concern is one of the member agencies of the Disasters Emergency Committee. Internationally, Concern is a member of the Alliance 2015 group.
