| Background Information | The Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) describes itself as providing "an extensive range of social and welfare services, and grants [for] financial assistance to Jewish victims of Nazi persecution living in Great Britain." Originally established by and for refugees from the Nazi regime during World War II, the organisation has expanded over time to assist victims of Nazi persecution who came to Britain following European upheavals later in the twentieth century, and now embraces the families and descendents of Nazi victims as well. Since 1960, there has also been an AJR Charitable Trust (charity no. 211239). Sources: www.ajr.org.uk; www.charity-commission.gov.uk |
