The Big Issue Foundation is a charity (no. 1049077) set up by The Big Issue Company Ltd, the social enterprise behind the Big Issue magazine. The campaigning current affairs magazine is sold by homeless vendors, in order to both provide themselves with an income, and to raise funds for investing in homelessness projects. The magazine was launched by Gordon Roddick and A. John Bird in 1991, initially as a London project. It has since developed further national and international editions.
