In its own words, the Church Mission Society (CMS) "is an evangelistic mission working to see a world transformed by the love of Jesus." Established in London in 1799, the organisation's founders, who included Henry Thornton MP and William Wilberforce MP, were mainly drawn from the evangelical Clapham Sect. The organisation now works in more than fifty countries, in both the developing and the developed world, and has offices in Cape Coast, Kampala, Nairobi, Oxford, Seoul and Singapore.
