| Description | The RSA Archive's primary source materials are divided into two main series: a) the Society's programme of activities and events (project work, reports, lectures etc.); b) the Society's administration (fellowship, finance, maintenance of property etc.). Records series are divided into sub series and contain a variety of material including: * minutes; * letters and general correspondence; * working files; * printed material; * prints & drawings; * photographs and other visual material. The core of the Society's work and activities is recorded in printed Transactions (from 1783) and the RSA Journal (from 1852). The Transactions cover the period during which the Society offered rewards or 'premiums' (either monetary or in the form of medals) in a wide range of fields. After 1850 the Society's focus turned towards the establishment of a programme of lectures: these are recorded in the Journal. Complete runs of these publications, together with indexes, are available at the RSA. (source: online presentation of the archives on the Society's website). |
