| Background Information | The CAADE Centre charity campaigned against age discrimination, championing the cause of employment rights for the over-45s. In the years following its foundation, the organisation played a pioneering role in the field, its work reflected in subsequent anti-discrimination legislation. The CAADE Centre charity emerged out of CAADE, the Campaign against Age Discrimination in Employment. Both organisations were founded by Philip and Bernice Walker, in response to personal experience of age discrimination. In 2007, a decision was made to close down the organisation, due to the burden of work on its founders. Sources: www.caade.net; contact with NGO, July 2007 |
